Khaling men were baptized. And
that’s when things started to change.
More people became interested in
who God was and wanted to believe.
As more people heard about Jesus,
they would tell their neighbors what
they had learned. And soon, Tim
and Ingrid were working with some
Khaling people to translate the
whole New Testament.
In 1994, the Khaling New Testament
was printed. Everyone was really
excited! But they wanted more—they
wanted the Old Testament too! And
昀椀rst, they wanted to be able to read
the book of Psalms.
One of the young men who had been
baptized was named Simon. He was
in charge of the team that worked on
translating the Old Testament. The
team worked hard for a lot of years.
Finally, in 2011, the whole Bible in
Khaling was 昀椀nished!
I was only 昀椀ve years old when the
Bible was completed, so I didn’t have
to wait very long at all. In fact, I can’t
remember ever not having the Bible!
But my mom and dad were just
my age when Tim and Ingrid
昀椀rst started translating. They
waited their whole lives for the
Bible, and now we 昀椀nally have
it! That makes us all very happy.
FUN FACTS:
The Yeti (or Abominable Snowman) is believed
to live in the mountains of Nepal. No one
has ever found the Yeti, but some people say
they’ve seen its footprints.
Nepal has the biggest altitude change on
earth. The lowlands are at sea level, and the
Himalayan mountains are the tallest on earth.
In fact, eight of the world’s 10 tallest mountain
peaks are in Nepal, including Mount Everest,
the tallest mountain in the world!
